For Clean Indoor Air
Formaldehyde is one of the chemicals that impair indoor air quality. The main source of formaldehyde has been chipboard, but also laminates, parquets and panels may emit formaldehyde if formaldehyde-containing adhesive has been used to glue them. Formaldehyde may irritate the eyes and upper respiratory passage even in small quantities, and it has been suspected to be connected with asthma symptoms. These matters are noteworthy especially in families with children, as small children crawl and play on the floor.
The floor is one of the largest surfaces in the home, and therefore Timberwise has set product safety as one of its most important quality criteria. We are the first parquet factory in the world to introduce a completely formaldehyde-free adhesive in the production of all our products.
Safe and emission-free products increase domestic comfort, guarantee better breathing air in your home, and reduce the risk of allergy and asthma. Timberwise is the first, and so far the only, wooden flooring manufacturer to have been granted the Allergy Label of Finland’s Allergy and Asthma Federation.
Ecology is the result of practical actions.
The Timberwise parquet is a good and safe choice both environmentally and for your home. Our products meet all the requirements set by EU directives (CE mark, DoP Declaration of Performance), and they have been classified in the best building material classes for emissions and adhesive joints; JAS F**** and JAS2. Our products have also been granted the highest emission classification in Finland, the M1 classification.
When it comes to the safety of our products, nothing has been left to chance. We use, as the first factory in the world, entirely formaldehyde-free adhesive in all our products.
In addition to clean breathing air, we are also concerned with nature. The timber we use comes mainly from PEFC and FSC-certified forests where less trees are cut than grow there.
The way of thinking at our factory is environmentally friendly. For instance, we do not use endangered wood species, but we have specialised in colour treatments, due to which we can also offer our customers exotic tones with certified raw materials. We also recycle the waste and by-products created during production. For instance, we use the saw dust created as a by-product in the production process to heat our drying kilns. We have also been using solar energy since 2016.
