Hotel Vihannonkulma offers a unique experience in the lively small town of Loimaa, in South-West Finland.
Formerly the private residence of businessman Olli Vihanto and previously Vihanto Oy’s car dealership, the building has remained a gem from the 1950s to the present day. Vihannonkulma features 9 unique rooms with three different themes – Classic, Nordic, and Retro. The meticulously finished spaces and rooms provide a feast for the eyes for enthusiasts of 1950s interior design.
The hotel also operates as Timberwise House.
Each of the hotel’s nine rooms features different Timberwise parquet flooring. In the hotel’s common areas, you can see the versatility of parquet, used not only on floors but also on walls, ceilings, furniture, and even bathroom walls. Room 1 – Classic Suite
The original ambiance of the house is best preserved in this cozy two-room suite. The defining feature of the interior style is the bay window overlooking the Loimijoki River and its original carpenter-made radiator cover. The spacious suite aims to honor the original atmosphere with predominantly refurbished antique furniture. The room floor features Timberwise Designparquet Ruutu, Oak Classic, Natural, sanded and wax-oiled.
Room 2 – Classic
he starting point for the decor of this elegant room has been the clay green shade of the Loimijoki river visible from the room’s windows. This sophisticated color perfectly complements the dark Timberwise Chevron parquet. Except for the bed, nightstands, and slat bench, old furniture has been used throughout the room. Viennese chairs and a table were given a fresh coat of paint, and the floral Emma chair received a minor upholstery touch-up. The room floor features Timberwise Designparquet Chevron, Oak Classic, Walnut, brushed and matte lacquered.
Room 3 – Classic
The atmosphere of the taupe-colored room is created by the rich-toned Timberwise plank parquet, complemented by sharp, black furnishings and stone countertops. This spacious room with a balcony overlooks the courtyard. The room features Timberwise plank floor , 230mm, Oak Classic, Amore Brown, brushed and wax-oiled.
Room 4 – Nordic
The brightness and misty color scheme of the hotel’s most minimalist room are built around Siberian Larch. Siberian Larch has been used for the kitchen and wardrobe doors, as well as for the bed’s headboard paneling. The distinct grain pattern of Siberian Larch has also been creatively utilized in some modern furniture. The room features Timberwise plank floor, 185 mm, Siberian Larch, Natural, Cotton, brusdhed and wax-oiled.
Room 5 – Nordic
he finest feature of the extension built in the 1970s is reflected in the floor-to-ceiling windows. The modern yet airy atmosphere combines classic birch parquet with cream-colored walls. The room boasts a fresh, bright, and harmonious color scheme that creates a serene overall ambiance. The room features Timberwise plank floor, 150mm, Birch, Natural, sanded and white matt lacquered
Room 9 – Nordic
White and green from floor to ceiling. The room’s decorative theme stems from the wall’s rhythm created by a circumferential trim. The lower part of the room is painted in natural white, while the upper part and ceiling are in a water-green hue. The furnishings and the bed’s headboard are also painted to match the lower part’s shade, and lively-patterned ash parquet adds the finishing touch to the space. The room features Timberwise Designpaquet Chevron 45°, Ash, Classic, sanded and white wax-oiled.
Room 6 – Retro, Junior Suite
Beautiful retro vibes. In the extension built in the 1970s, the ambiance has been carefully preserved. Moss green vinyl wallpaper, oak parquet flooring, and bathroom tiles honor the original architecture of the space. The furnishings also boldly embrace characteristic furniture of the era while maintaining a fresh and vibrant atmosphere. The room features Timberwise plank floor, 230 mm, Oak Classic, Caramel, brushed and wax-oiled.
Room 7 – Retro, Junior Suite
You can experience the original ambiance of Vihannonkulma in room seven, particularly in its bathroom, where everything has been preserved intact. Cobalt blue tiles with floral patterns and light yellow porcelain fixtures are exceptionally well-maintained and worth seeing. The hotel room extends the bathroom’s blue theme by refreshing it with clean white walls and oak parquet flooring. The room features Timberwise Designparquet Chevron 45°, Oak Classic, Natural, brushed and wax-oiled.
Room 8 – Retro
The color scheme of the deep linden green room was harmonized with the original window frames and tiling. Dark Eben-toned oak parquet flooring was used throughout, including on the bed’s headboard, finished with oak trim. An additional feature of the bathroom is a large window facing Turuntie. The room also features selected original antique furniture from the Vihannonkulma residence. The room features Timberwise Designparquet Herringbone, Oak Classic, Eben, brushed and wax-oiled.
