The Finnish White Rose Knight’s Cross was awarded to Markku Mäkitalo, the founder, owner, CEO, and Chairman of the Board of Timberwise, on Finland’s Independence Day, December 6, 2024. This prestigious recognition marked the conclusion of Timberwise’s 25th anniversary year and was granted by the President of the Republic of Finland. The official and ceremonial presentation of the Knight’s Cross took place on January 18, 2025.
The award is a highly esteemed acknowledgment of Markku Mäkitalo’s decades of entrepreneurship, his contributions to advancing two industrial sectors in Finland, his bold decisions to invest in Finland when others in the field were outsourcing abroad, and his efforts to revitalize our hometown of Loimaa through various projects.

About the Finnish White Rose Knight’s Cross
The Order of the White Rose of Finland is one of Finland’s official state orders, established in 1919 by President Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim. Its symbol, the Knight’s Cross, represents honor and merit.
