Timberwise conquers the Housing Fair – the only Finnish manufacturer of wooden floors guarantees quality
Last autumn, Parla Floor became part of Timberwise. With this acquisition, the family-owned company known for quality flooring became the only Finnish maker of wooden floors to manufacture its products from start to finish in Finland. The company provides professional services for a continuously expanding customer base – floors by Timberwise and Parla will cover almost 1,000 square metres at the Housing Fair this summer! Finnish origin and quality awareness are emphasised in purchases by housing fair customers: timeless oak floors are a sustainable and ethical choice. Clean indoor air enabled by non-toxic materials, and the pleasant feel of genuine wood underfoot, are key criteria when you aim to invest in your home – alongside the charming aesthetic aspect.
This summer, the Housing Fair, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, will be held in Tuusula, just outside the Helsinki metropolitan area. Tuusula has a rich cultural heritage. The exceptionally diverse typology of housing at the fair creates a neighbourhood which accounts for the needs of different residents from one stage of life to the next. Timberwise’s collection is broader than before and includes great options for an even wider range of interior decorators: the ideal premium wooden floors for their homes. Our timeless products are manufactured to withstand life: at best, a well-maintained floor can be used for generations to come. In the town-village of the future, everyone is entitled to a good and active everyday life. The fair will showcase the best in urban living combined with a village-like community.
For this Housing Fair, Timberwise supplied the floors of eleven fascinating houses or apartments designed by architects – oil waxing emerged as a distinct trend amongst wooden floor surface treatments. For many of the houses built for this summer’s Housing Fair, the interior designers selected beautiful, high-quality single plank wooden floors. For example, in the Honka Huomen log home by Honkarakenne, healthy natural materials are combined with smart building technology which improves quality of living. For this ecological site, interior designer Maru Hautala opted for the 230mm wide Larch Cotton single plank wooden floor with a beautiful patina, combining an individual appearance with a wide plank pattern.
Interior designer Heli Virtanen also selected a 230mm wide single plank oak floor for Finnlog Hetena and a 270mm wide single plank oak floor will be installed in Villa Fortuna by Ollikaisen Hirsirakenne.
Kontio’s log home features a magnificent deep brown, brushed and matte lacquered Oak Vintage. Together with Kontio’s design team, Piia Kalliomäki, who was responsible for interior design, selected a highly knotted wooden floor. The same spectacular natural knotty look appears in a lighter shade in the wooden floor surfaces of Lammi kivitalo Duplio B and Jukkatalo Living like a Finn (Talo Classic) house. Flooring from Parla’s rustic Chalet collection is ideal for Villa Ville of Passiivikivitalot, for which the interior was designed by Linda Baki.
Currently trending design wooden floors also bring dignity and warmth to homes of all kinds. Oak Kolmio, a geometric design wooden floor, can be seen in a darker shade than before in the Jämerä Townhouse Salmiakki. This stone house, commissioned remotely from Qatar by its owner couple, also features the trendy TXT Design Wall.
Jukkatalo’s Talo Modern features the Oak Herringbone floor. The Lumitiikeri model of HEVI-Kivitalot includes a unique ensemble: the 270mm wide single plank oak floor was accompanied by an Oak Chevron design wooden floor, tailor-made to fit and designed by interior designer Laura Seppänen.
On the A-side of the Duplio semi-detached house by Lammi Kivitalot, for which the interior was created by interior designer Sanna Piitulainen, you can sit on a streamlined Twise slat bench made of surplus material from the production and installation of wooden floor products, and admire the Oak Classic Snöhetta single-plank wooden floor.
