New, inventive wooden floor innovations from the NexTwise competition
The NexTwise Design Competition showed that Finnish quality wooden floor transforms to versatile purposes.
In March, Timberwise launched an open design competition to find new ideas for using left over materials from the production and installation of wooden floor. A total of approximately 140 entries were submitted to the tough competition, including three innovative and stylish products that reached the podium.
1) The award in the Utility item category went to Kalle Järvenpää, who designed a PowerWise extension cable that merges with the wooden floor.
2) Marika Häkkinen and Joonas Huhta won the Floor standing item category with their elegant and minimalist Blokki-top.
3) A multipurpose Vieno & Kingi table set designed by Terhi Tuominen and Jitan V Patel was awarded in the Furniture category.
The winning works were exhibited at the Timberwise stand in Habitare Exhibition and exhibitors had the opportunity to vote for their favorite. The category 2 winning product Blokki-top won the exhibitors’ vote.
Due to the abundance of good and executable proposals in the design competition, Timberwise also wishes awarded three honorary prizes to the following submissions: Heikki Konu’s Pitkos shoe rack, Fanni Laukkanen’s Laukat table and stool, and Hannakaisa Ukonaho’s Foliage plant post.
