Surprising wooden floor news presented in Habitare!

In the spring, Timberwise announced the NexTwise design competition, asking designers, planners and handymen to think about ways to utilise excess wooden floor pieces. The response was overwhelming and we received over 140 entries in the competition!

– The competition was a true cornucopia and it has given us ideas that will last for a long time. The inventive submissions showed that there are indeed many novel and good uses for the wooden floor surplus. It reaffirmed our view that we shouldn’t throw away a single piece of our Finnish quality wooden floor! says one of the judges in the competition, Laura Lankinen, Timberwise’s brand manager.

The three winning entries will be presented in the Habitare trade fair. The award-winning proposals are featured at the Timberwise stand, where they can be viewed and tested during the fair. Timberwise’s design competition is divided into three categories: small utility items, floor standing objects and furniture. In addition, the jury wants to give an honourable mention to the three runners-up.

At the fair, Timberwise will also present the newest product in the Twise product family: A series of interior design clocks by designer Tapio Anttila, chairman of the jury in the NexTwise competition. The series consists of six playful interior design clocks made with excess wooden floor pieces from Timberwise’s production. The products are also for sale at the stand.

– This new kind of a design challenge inspired me to think out of the box and to plan unconventional and playful objects. As the starting point was a two-dimensional surface, I wanted to break it with surprising forms and combinations of different wood species and colours, says Tapio Anttila.

The Timberwise stand will also otherwise be an experience-packed collection of natural materials. The spectacular and lush stand is designed by stylist Susanna Vento. The stand also features 20 topical wooden floor colours curated by interior designer Joanna Laajisto, including Timberwise’s 20th anniversary new releases: Birch, Larch 270 mm and Old Vintage wooden floors, which can also been seen as large surfaces at different stands.

Welcome to stand 6D50 in the Habitare fair and be inspired by the new possibilities of wooden floors!
